The Death Ray is one of Megamind's inventions.
General Information
The Death Ray visually resembles a communications satellite, complete with a dish, a minimalistic frame and solar panels. It harnesses solar energy, and has to warm up before unleashing a devastating thermal beam on its target.
The weapon is controlled through specific uplinks.

The Death Ray was part of Megamind's latest schemes to eliminate Metro Man, being positioned right above the observatory. Metro Man falls for the trap, enabling Megamind to activate the weapon, though the weapon's sluggish preparation time causes him to instead bicker with Metro Man, Minion and Roxanne.
Metro Man, who was planning to fake his death, escapes the Death Ray through superspeed just as the weapon is fired and burns through the roof.
Megamind: The Button of Doom
Megamind plans to destroy Mega-Megamind with the Death Ray, but with most of its remotes depleted, he is forced to remain evasive until Minion recovers a functional one to fire it in time.
