Metro Man, another alien refugee from the Glaupunk Quadrant, is the adopted son of Lord Scott and Lady Scott, a retired superhero and Megamind's initial arch-nemesis of good later to be "replaced"; by Tighten.
Like Megamind and Minion, Metro Man is the last member of his species.
When Metro Man was still an infant, his home planet was destroyed by a black hole. Before the planet was eaten, his parents sent him off the planet in an escape pod to Earth, where he "landed", after knocking Megamind's pod away under the Christmas tree of the Scotts' home. Growing up, he constantly craved attention and praise, which caused him to unwittingly ruin Megamind's chance of having a better life.
Background[]
Metro Man's origins are similar to Megamind's, his home planet was destroyed by a black hole and his parents sent him off into space in a golden escape pod to save him, during his trip he crashes against baby Megamind's escape pod until his own pod gracefully landed in the Scott Manor, right under a Christmas tree. leading his new mother to think the baby was a present for her while her husband agreed, not bothering to put down his newspaper, not even when their new son started flying across the room.
As Metro Man (his actual name was never given in the movie) was growing up, he was gifted with everything he could ever want. He attended Lil' Gifted School for Lil' Gifted Kids, the same school as Megamind was 'permitted' to attend, where he earned his first fans, including the teacher by using his superpowers and "kindness" to win their favor, often at the expense of Megamind.
After Metro Man 'forced' Megamind to become a villain, blowing a raspberry at the blue youth as he was carted off in the prison bus, he took the schoolhouse away to another (at the time undisclosed) location. Years passed and Metro Man became a sensation among Metro City, earning a museum of all the times he and Megamind had battled throughout the years.
Throughout the years, Metro Man has battled and defeated Megamind dozens of times, which earned him the praise and love of the people of Metro City. Some even being called "The Battle Of The Century".
Present time[]
Metro Man, during Megamind's latest scheme, attempts to rescue Roxanne Ritchi, but is instead lured into an abandoned observatory. Megamind and Metro Man taunt each other as Megamind's Death Ray warms up. Eventually, Metro Man attempts to escape, but fails, claiming copper removes his superpowers. The Death Ray hits, sending a skeleton with his cape to where Megamind, Minion and Roxanne are located. He is presumed dead, and with nobody to protect Metro City, Megamind takes over, and soon becomes disappointed as Metro Man was quite literally the purpose of his villainy. Inspired by Roxanne, Megamind would later using the cape to extract Metro Man’s superpowers, inadvertently converting Hal Stewart into "Titan". The plan however backfires, and with Titan on the loose, Megamind is forced to seek Roxanne for leads on Metro Man so they could figure something.
Metro Man is revealed to be alive and well, having retreated to his hideout that's covered by Megamind's former schoolhouse. He discovers their arrival and initially tries to sneak away, but they notice him. At their insistence, Metro Man explains why he quit. On that fateful day, when Megamind ordered Minion to fire the Death Ray, Metro Man decided to take a break with his superspeed, to figure what's bothering himself for all those years they've fought. Metro Man was quick to realize that much like how his existence turned Megamind to villainy, Metro Man is locked in the eyes of the citizens as their hero, and he wanted to pursue his own interests in music. Since he couldn't just quit, he decided to fake his death, first by claiming his weakness to copper, then attaching his cape with a skeleton from a nearby nursing school and throwing it. Roxanne and Megamind are both disgusted by his indifference, with Roxanne destroying his instruments in a fit of rage by launching them at him. Despite Megamind's pleas, Metro Man declares he is done with his heroic facade, but tries to inspire Megamind with his experience, believing when evil strikes, a hero will rise to stop it, and Megamind, too, will find his own purpose.
Metro Man later attends the opening of the Megamind Museum in disguise, and silently congratulates Megamind, who had since defeated Titan and became Metro City's new protector.
Megamind: The Button of Doom[]
Metro Man is not seen, but he is mentioned. Megamind's super suit is designed to mimic all the superpowers Metro Man has, and the Mega-Megamind Mega Megamind thinks Megamind is Metro Man due to the super suit being the same color as Metro Man’s. He is also heard singing when Minion turns on a radio.
Megamind Rules![]
Sometime prior to Blue Prison Metro Man decides to write a prison style song however lacks inspiration and so decides to spend time in Metro City Prison in order to find inspiration. Megamind finds him and after helping him deal with his stage fright and letting him perform to the prisoners Metro Man breaks the group out.
Appearance[]
Metro Man is tall, (About 8'5"[1]) very muscular (his biceps are 25" in diameter [1]), wears a black, Elvis Presley inspired Pompadour with greying sideburns and light blue eyes. After his retirement he grew a beard and didn't seem to pay much attention to his appearance either, although it is most likely intentional so people won't recognize him. As a baby, he had dark brown hair, which turned black as he grew older, he was also considerably bulky and bigger than Baby Megamind.
Metro Man‘s superhero costume is white and beige with a big "M" on the chest, and a white cape. When he came to Earth, he wore a white and gold onesie with a planet resembling Saturn on the right side of the chest.
Powers and Abilities[]
Metro Man was born with various superpowers, notably with his heat vision, invulnerability, flight and superhuman strength that often give him the advantage over Megamind in their past battles. He also has extreme superspeed. His superspeed is so fast that he can move normally while everyone else is moving slow enough that it seemed like he stopped time. He's so fast that when Megamind shot his death ray, Metro Man was able to have a mid-life crisis while the ray slowly approached.
Personality[]
From a very young age, Metro Man had an arrogant attitude as shown when he blows raspberries to Megamind when they both arrived at Earth and later when Lady Scott is tickling him he shakes his finger at her implying he does not like to be tickled.
As a child, he showed signs of being the typical "spoiled rich kid" and never missed an opportunity to show off his powers in order to gain the attention and adoration from his teacher and classmates, during the time that Metro Man and Megamind went to school together Metro Man made sure everyone saw him as a "problem child" after Megamind failed to make popcorn with his invention and accidentally set it on fire, possibly so that he could not steal his spotlight. He blatantly bullied him and even got his classmates to bully him; until Megamind was expelled from the school for setting off a bomb that; had painted everything and everyone there blue, symbolizing Megamind's "Bad Boy" Nature as opposed to Metro Man's "Good Boy" nature.
During Metro Man's time as Metro City's protector, he had initially enjoyed his fame as Metro City's protector and his victories over Megamind. But he eventually dropped it and his attitude, disillusioned over his facade and how he was only a hero; by chance.

Trivia[]
- According to the original Master Mind script, Metro Man‘s civilian name is Wayne Scott although it is unknown whether or not it was changed, although it is possible since his adopted parents' names is also Scott.
- His design was modelled off of Elvis Presley, which is fitting, given his "Rock Star" Flare.
- Brad Pitt (the voice of Metro Man) previously Sinbad in another Dreamworks film, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas.
- Several hints imply Metro Man‘s survival before his own revelation:
- When Megamind orders the Death Ray to fire, if you look closely at the scene, you'll notice Metro Man flicking on the left screen (the observatory) to the right screen (Megamind's lair) as a result of him exploiting his superspeed.
- Given the destruction done to the observatory, the Death Ray's yield could potentially have been high enough to simply obliterate Metro Man if he was actually hit.
- When Megamind's Brain bots put a copper dome around titan, he mocks him saying how he defeated Metro Man, however Titan easily breaks through it.
- In Megamind Rules!, he has stage fright when performing music; which is odd considering how he was able to give speeches to the entire city when he was a superhero. While it is explained as being; because he is never performed music in front of anyone that is a flimsy answer at best.
